Pros

the people you work with day to day are wonderful

Cons

I cannot imagine a more toxic work environment. I would recommend working here if: - you want Slack to be the first thing you check when you wake up and the last thing you check before going to bed because god forbid you miss an 8:30 pm thread - you want to be gaslit into thinking you're selfish for wanting a raise, even though leadership has acknowledged that you're making below market rate - you want extra work thrown on your plate monthly but would never think about wanting a promotion because who even cares about a title? - you want to be put under a manager who is incapable of giving tactical advice and when you bring up concerns to a lead they tell you to "rely less on your manager" - you want a strict 5 day a week in person office policy - you hate having personal time Thursday evenings and would rather sit at a staff meeting from 6-7 pm Bonus: its a health tech company and they don't even cover all of your health insurance... red flag

Pros

There are three primary reasons why I think Forward is an incredible place to work: - Forward is the only company I have seen that is built as a mission with a business attached. Forward consistently makes decisions that prioritizes its mission and gives us a chance to change a lot of people's lives around the US and maybe one day around the world. To the core, mission is far more important that financials. - Forward is built on a culture of ownership. Everyone owns very impactful and challenging problems. AND we own problems end to end - from developing strategy to driving execution to owning outcomes. - Forward offers real growth opportunities. I've worked on some of the most challenging problems surrounded by some of the smartest, most capable individuals. I've learned just as much from personally exploring problems from first principles as I have from listening to the experience and thought patterns of my colleagues.

Cons

Building a vertically integrated start with aspirations of changing the world is really hard. It takes a certain kind of person to be successful here. To be successful, you need to: - be willing to sacrifice short term gains for long term impact - be a self starter who learns best through their own initiative - have the endurance to ride the ups and downs of startup life - be okay with the messiness of pursuing new ideas - be willing to work 5 days a week in the office
