Pros

Great benefits, comp nights can be a perk if you are able t get them. The free lunch is a huge plus.

Cons

Each hotel and resort is privately owned so each one has different salaries. When I transferred properties my hourly pay dropped $6 even though I had more years of experience. Comp room stays could be amazing but they are close to impossible to get unless you are top management.

Great Experience

Pros

Gain flexibility and customer service knowledge, dealing with all types of clientele and personalities in both management and guests

Cons

management tends to be primarily hospitality graduates without restaurant experience, therefore they tend to have little understanding on how both front of house and back of house needs to work in a high volume environment for the times. Work life balance is a value... but management tends to disregard this. Especially when cross functioning with the Banquets division -- managers in banquets need to understand that on call within the restaurant division is voluntary and needs to be cut first if they work in the morning -- respect that those staff members are doing you a favor and it needs to be reciprocated.
