A high-volume and routine caseload, with its often strict rules and time demands, can be repetitive and superficial and can inhibit one's own learning about the full nuances, complexities, and possibilities of immigration law-- one needs to proactively seek out growth and leadership opportunities to improve professionally. A high-volume caseload (i.e., there is always so much urgent work to do) can also take away the time that would be needed for effective internal networking and relationship development within the firm, not to mention general morale, productivity, and wellness.
