Pros

Good work environment, positive people, good clients. There is room for moving up in the firm. You learn a lot about the field.

Cons

Long hours, repetitive. There are no bonuses for lower positions. You may not talk to many people throughout the day. Can get stressful when you have a lot of work to do but it's manageable.

Pros

The company is well-established, respected, and looks good on a resume. Sometimes there is free food. Coworkers are smart and friendly at lunch. Paralegals get to work with interesting clients. Overtime pay is great though regular pay is low for the area. There were some fun events for employees and birthdays are celebrated. Flexible schedule: you have to work 7.5 hours but get to pick what time to start (though often you will be working overtime anyway so this won't matter as much). You will be very busy and learn a lot. Good way to learn about immigration law. Casual dress code.

Cons

HR is very problematic. Later, when applying for my current job, when my current employer (and the background check company) called Fragomen to verify my employment, Fragomen told them that I had never worked there! My contract had been directly through Fragomen, I have a copy of the contract to prove it, (it was NOT a temp contract through an agency) and I had left on fine terms. This delayed my background check and start date with my current employer. For a company that deals with employment law, I found this to be unprofessional and problematic. They continue to be unpleasant even after you stop working there. Morale is low. Training is minimal and supervisors will be quick to blame you for mistakes. Some supervisors are unwilling to help and gossipy. Each work team there operates very differently. Although many employees are fresh out of college and have no paralegal or immigration experience, you are expected to learn very quickly and if you have questions it will be hard to get them answered, causing even more mistakes. Employees are made to feel replaceable. People are afraid of being fired and there is lots of turnover. Working overtime and on weekends is expected(although they do pay well for it). Due to the nature of the work, there is no such thing as a small mistake and you will hear about any mistakes you make. The work is very repetitive, tedious, and boring, though this has less to do with the company and is more just the nature of the work. Stressful environment and silent office. Lots of burnout. Very hierarchical.

Pros

The location of the office is decent.

Cons

One term: golden handcuffs. Fragomen will lure you in with an average salary and over time. Once they've got you, prepare to be treated like the dirt below management's feet. Unless you are a favorite or a brown noser to management, you will not see any career advancement. Management is totally aware of what is going on but, they refuse to do anything about it because they are still making money, when the clients decide to pay.
