Pros

Good benefits, nice people, pay is competitive, the hours are flexible with lots of PTO.

Cons

Managed by a central location in Phoenix AZ for all mines which is not able to adapt to market forces fast enough. Difficult and stressful job due to constant understaffing issues in large part caused by the first point. The industry as a whole has been laying off technical professionals that help keep everything going every time there is a decrease the value of copper or Molybdenum which has led to outdated equipment that no-one understands how to fix anymore. This job requires large amounts of self-initiative to be able to figure out what was done in the past to fix it because the people that made it are no longer around. Usually this learning process is under pretty substantial pressure.

Pros

Great colleagues to work with. Good 401K.

Cons

Worst management that i have experienced. Good ole boys club still when the world is so different now. The adage “ You don’t leave a company, you leave your boss” stands true with Freeport.

Pros

Safety is number one in this culture. The pay is very competitive and opportunities abound for those who want to work for it. I have worked for many mid and large sized companies and Freeport has provided be and my family with the best work life balance and benefits.

Cons

Some of the locations can be a bit remote, but that comes with working in the materials and mining world. They do try to make living in their remote locations bearable with added amenities, but in the end many mines are still remote.
