Pros

Very relaxed working environment if you choose to make it that way. There are many projects and seemingly endless deadlines, but if you are mediocre at the job, it rarely gets overwhelming. Minimally restricted dress code, just don't dress like a bum and make sure your clothing is appropriate for lab work. You will get trained on a number of tests very quickly in this role, which can seem difficult, but it's fairly well-paced in my experience. Skills look good on a resume from this job. Good amount of PTO days (15/year + 2 personal days/year + 4 floating holidays/year = 21 total days, up to 5 carryover) and a lot of flexibility with taking them. Generally, managers do not count a few hours off for appointments against your time off.

Cons

Grossly underpaid. I was told the salary cannot be negotiated, regardless of my experience. Poor training experience, as managers/scientists are not trained on how to train. Many topics were not covered, leading to mistakes that were easily avoidable had they been trained on and were a massive headache to fix (this experience is not unique, each person in this role has been led astray on numerous tests). Most higher-ups make no effort to get to know new employees or help them feel welcome (a couple of the big names will acknowledge you over email, then never say a word again.) A lot of safety precautions are not followed, despite repeated reminders (it's mostly just a few people, you'll figure that out pretty quickly watching behavior in the lab.) Not very diverse (having a majority of Asians is no different than an office of majority whites, as there are very few African Americans / Latinx / other minorities employed here). The office is very loud, difficult to get work done, as many people will have loud, non-work related conversations right next to the desks. There are no remote work opportunities in this role. The company still operates entirely with paper documentation instead of electronic, regardless of what they say during your interview process, and this technology is still over a year away from Frontage for even the most basic processes.

Thank you for providing your feedback. We are glad to hear that you have gained a lot of skills in working here. We do offer a very competitive benefit package here, and do have flexibility. Pay is negotiable when your offer is made. However, is dependent on a number of factors such as education, experience, and skills. Internal equity is also something that we are very mindful of. We do evaluate performance and compensation closely. Training is a consistent, ongoing process here, and something that we are always evaluating per the business needs, and looking to improve. Frontage is a very diverse company, and we embrace that. If you would like to discuss diversity efforts offline, please reach out to Human Resources. Depending on your role, you may not be able to work from home. As an Associate Scientist you can not work from home as your position requires you to be in the lab. We do offer remote, and hybrid opportunities, and this is strictly based off the duties and responsibilities, and if work from home is possible. We do operate mostly with electronic documentation, very little paper is being used. Technology is always changing, and we keep up to the industry standards. Thank you again for your feedback.

Pros

This is a great place to learn and progress as they are handling numerous projects under different service categories. You get to work with experienced scientists who are very nice and supportive. HR is doing a great job trying to create a pleasant atmosphere for the employees.

Cons

With a lot of international/ bilingual employees, sometimes it makes you feel awkward or uncomfortable when the majority is not speaking in English around you.

Thank you for providing your feedback. Frontage is certainly a supportive environment with a lot of learning opportunities. There is numerous, diverse projects that lab based employees work on at 1 given time. Team members that are not in the lab also have the opportunity to learn a lot, and have diversity in their positions. Frontage is a very diverse company, and has a number of international employees. English is the spoken language here. Please feel free to speak with Human Resources offline about this. Thanks again for your valuable feedback!
