Job Secutrity for DIrectors and high level staff are often at the whim of elected officials and their platforms.

Pros

Being able to have a vacation and sick time that can roll over year to year is a great perk. Helping customers willing to be helped was amazing too.

Cons

I applied for about 60 positions during my employment. I went on countless.interviews and received positive feedback but was not able to get promoted. It was like being stuck in the hell!

Pros

Benefits are good, but not outstanding. No longer provide pensions; have converted to 403B (from the employee standpoint, almost identical to a 401K) plans, but the County contributes heavily to this fund. Really good insurance benefits. Good leave and holiday benefits. Extremely light work required by County.

Cons

Pay scales are comparable only to other Counties and municipalities. No raises in last five years and no way to get merit increases. Poor morale because "dead wood" cannot be fired. Many employees have dated skills.
