Pros

Like all the reviews said they have an excellent training program. If you're new to sales I would take advantage of their training program than leave for another company.

Cons

Worst insurance for dental and health. No opt coverage. No 401K. No yearly bonus. They use a percentage of what you make to pay for admin salaries. They like to say they focus on being positive but the company is actually highly negative. They will berate you in sales meetings even though its supposedly "Blue Angel". The sales commission sucks for how much effort you put in the company. You can get paid twice as much at other competitors. They take advantage of people in their 20's that don't know better.

Pros

You can make a lot of money working from Monday through Friday, 8-5pm. They have an incredible training program. Awesome management, talented co-workers. Oh and a work out facility too.

Cons

You will earn every dollar you make. This is an excellent opportunity but it isn't for everyone.

Pros

As I prepare to take on a new role and move on from GC Micro, I wanted to take the time to write a review about them as I think their rating is too low here. This is a really cool small business with great company culture, leadership that always felt they were there for me, and just a rare positive vibe throughout. Sales and account management are tough jobs, not for the faint of heart, but I think the way they offer support without micromanaging here is really special. I always felt like I had a lot of resources to reach out to, and that our reputation with our customers gave me a solid chance to win opportunities. I want to especially highlight their training program which was SO unique and cool - we got to watch some really interesting motivational material and there was as much focus on the mental aspect of sales as there was on technique. I really liked that and think I got more out of this role than just job skills. Also the comp - very enticing. There are account managers here that are up around 200-300k ever year. They have been doing this for years and got very good, so you're not going to get there for a while, but for a hungry learner? You could make a fortune at GC Micro.

Cons

The primary con is a steep learning curve - this is a role selling computer equipment to federal government programs and prime contractors. It is SO cool to get to work with NASA programs for instance, but you really have to dedicate time to learning their world and language, the government operates differently than anyone I've worked with before. I had strong performance in role and was able to consistently hit my numbers as I got more seasoned - but that could not have happened if I hadn't dedicated time and energy to really learning their world.

Pros

I will never forget my first day at GC Micro. In training they told us the core belief of the company was,"We would never take advantage of a customer even if we could and they would never know it." I'm sure that is one of the reasons GC Micro has been working with so many Fortune 500 firms for over 25 years. The owner Belinda Guadarrama runs the company with a level of integrity that is unparalleled in my work experience. She is a very kind and compassionate person that is always there for anyone that needs her. One day a lady came in from the administrative staff crying. A dog she had for 17 years had died the day before. Belinda consoled her then got on the Internet and found a puppy of that same breed. (I think it was an Australian Shepard) That afternoon Belinda and the woman went over to San Jose and Belinda bought her the puppy. When they brought the puppy back that afternoon I think the entire company was on the floor in the lobby playing with that little dog. it was a memory I will never forget. Another time a lady on the sales team lost several family members in a small plane crash. She was out for several months. She was paid the whole time she was gone the same as if she had been there. When she finally returned, her position was there and all of her accounts had been handled by Belinda and other members of the sales team in her absence. You will notice even on the negative comments they talk about how great the training is. The sales and personal development training at GC Micro changed my life for the better in 100 different ways. While I was at GC Micro I saw training programs on diet, investing, self-esteem and a dozen other subjects that all had a dramatic impact on my life. They also give all of the staff books and DVD's that everyone really enjoyed. I loved the medical insurance. You have access to the best doctors. I was in the hospital twice during the time I was at GC Micro. It was amazing. GC Micro has a basketball court and a huge work out area with high end equipment. There is also a walking/jogging area near by. I lost 12 pounds and got in great shape while I was there. I need to move back to California and go back to work at GC Micro, I gained 15 since I left :( .

Cons

Let me see what are the Cons of working at GC Micro. Well first off it will spoil you for the rest of your life and you will never be completely happy with any other company. I miss the friendly and supportive atmosphere. GC Micro is nationally famous in the federal marketplace as an IT supplier. They have won awards from the government and dozens of Fortune 500 firms. You can't do that for over 25 years unless you have a staff of well trained, motivated, positive and professional people. The negative comments you see on this site are from the people that just couldn't make the grade at GC Micro. Some people are too into blaming others for their failure and those kind of folks don't do well in a team of champions. They are obviously very bitter and I do feel sorry for them.

Pros

Amazing sales training program. Really gets you pumped up to work for them. Can be very profitable with some big time commissions if you have the chops. They hire great people with integrity. Fun bunch to work with. Get lots of free lunches and parties for company goals being achieved.

Cons

Be prepared to open up your own accounts. If you are lucky you will get put on a specific "profitable" Account Team. You must be able to open accounts and be one heck of a negotiator and closer because it takes time to build up pipeline there. The commission plan is tricky and easy to miss the bonus qualifiers.

Pros

The vibe here is great. Sales meetings are so energizing, fun even. First time I don't dread them. Colleagues are awesome. The gym is great, and so fun as many of us use it and the basketball court also. I feel valued and respected. Great incentives. Maui? Yes, please.

Cons

The person in the cube next to me doesn't shower after he plays basketball at lunch. LOL!

Pros

I'll start with what you walk in to, an amazing training program. They teach you everything you need to be able to succeed at the job you've been hired for. Negotiation tactics, closing techniques, and scripts to make sure you don't blank on a call. The training is nicely structured and you get to actually use the skills you're taught right away, so they don't just go in one ear and out the other. Once you finish training and hit the floor, you enter into an extremely supportive and nurturing environment. Everyone on the team wants you to succeed and will do whatever they can to help. No one has to do this alone, there are many people around you to help guide you along the way. Finally, the pay. Commission sales can be very lucrative, but it's also scary for some people - especially those who have never done it before. Don't be. If you are confident in your abilities and can follow the advice of the rest of the staff, you'll do fine.

Cons

My only gripe is that I'm not able to take lunch whenever I want. The set lunch hour is from 12-1.
