      Pros

      Once you make a name for yourself it is a fun place. Engineers have a lot of freedom to play with technology. Some of the subject matter is very interesting. Pay is pretty good.

      Cons

      Paperwork for everything, Online training for everything. They are trying to turn every job into a manual. Every decision flows through 2 or three top level engineers so if you are a young engineer you better get good at presentations and taking criticism. Tons of EGO.

      Pros

      I was fortunate to work at a smaller GE manufacturing plant with 4 or 5 other interns rather than in Schenectady. The computer software was old but the quality of my assignments were much better than others at larger locations. Great work for an intern with a mix of design and hands on experience

      Cons

      Very corporate atmosphere. GE seems to reward middle managers for doing less real engineering work. average pay for entry level engineers

      Pros

      Worked closely with current employees on projects that helped all of GETs tremendously. A lot of free will and self management required.

      Cons

      Sometimes there would be down time when projects would be slow because of all the red tape that might need to be completed to have something worked out.
