Pros

We are a tight-knit group that encourages collaboration between our offices. We always are looking toward the next 5 or so years, keeping our eye on organic growth. Downsizing is not in our vocabulary. The staff is treated quite well with good salaries, good benefits, and stimulating opportunities.

Cons

We could use more bench strength to support some of our projects and service lines.

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate you recounting your positive experience with our people, culture and projects. Collectively, we work hard to cultivate an engaging work environment rich with opportunities and experiences that continues to retain our talented employees. Our turnover reflects such, as we rank within the average industry benchmark compiled from nearly 100 firms in our industry. We agree that we have some additional work to do with regard to encouraging more collaboration among branches within regions and across our organization. We have a number of new and upcoming initiatives (i.e. our Skills Marketplace) to help support stronger collaboration and communication across our organization. GEI offers a flexible work environment and schedule, depending on the role, responsibilities and individual performance. We empower branch leadership with the autonomy to create an environment that’s aligned with client needs, colleague collaboration and individual needs. Although we strive to accommodate the needs of our staff, the balance between these three areas can sometimes result in one area experiencing less flexibility. We are first and foremost dedicated to our clients and delivering the excellence they’ve come to expect and enjoy. We are also dedicated to our employees and consistently strive to reward well-performing employees with what they need to be engaged and happy at GEI. I wish you the best of luck in your career.

Thank you for providing feedback. While your review was brief and we’d love more context, we’ll offer responses to what you’ve provided. We invite you to expand upon your brief review by contacting your former department manager or a member of our executive team to provide more insight and feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience was one where you feel we didn’t value ideas from younger generations. We have a variety of ways we focus on listening to all five generations in our workforce, for example: • Our all employee (GEI Pulse) survey, which allows us to review results by generation and requires leaders to develop and follow through on action plans. • I meet regularly with our Grades 1 – 5 (entry level employees to new project managers) to provide insights, gather feedback and make changes. • We seek feedback through a variety of channels, including our proprietary Speak Up! App that encourages employees to provide feedback on our culture. • We have a wide variety of employee committees including employee engagement committees, culture committees (DE+I, Sustainability and GEI Gives Back) and risk and compliance committees (QA/QC, Safety, 401(k)) and project-specific committees to review and make recommendations on how we are structured and operate. We are committed to listening and taking action on feedback from our employees and creating opportunities for all generations to actively engage and lead our company. Our collaborative culture, which values the and input from all generations, including our younger ones, is vital and important to our success.
