Pros

If you've been with the company for a while the pay is competitive When I first started this used to be a great company to work for that cared about it's employees

Cons

I would not recommend anyone new to join this company They took away profit share, biannual merit increase reviews, overtime opportunities, chairmans club (rewards for top performers) stopped doing Christmas party outings and had layoffs while at the same time announcing their increased productivity expectations while paying us less money (more work for less pay).... then shamelessly announced their BILLIONS IN PROFIT this QUARTER...... They then announce the 6% 401k match (gee thanks a tax deductible contribution for the company when our profit share was TRIPLE that almost every year) They will spend money creating new systems to micromanage their employees but refuse to fix the systems that we've been begging them to fix that are ruining our efficiencies

Pros

This place will give you a nice introduction into the world of auto family policies and insurance. You will learn (somewhat superficially) what coverage and liability are, how much right to recovery we have, why we deny (or afford) on a claim, and gain insight into how other insurance companies interact with GEICO, including through arbitration.

Cons

You are expected to work a claims through closure (meaning determine if coverage can be afforded, who is at fault, set up inspections, pay out damages if need be, etc) but not given the time do so. You are expected to work with really crappy software that is constantly malfunctioning/slowing down your efficiency metrics. This is a call center environment, so customer service is what you are graded on, even when you have no control over the outcome of a claim and people are upset over previous adjusters handling the claim. Double so since the company refuses to accept responsibility for how bad their training is.
