      Decent place to work, but the pay wasn’t good

      Pros

      GHD hired me with very little experience. Basically just a degree. They also have environmental jobs for people without degrees. I learned a lot about emergency response and remediation. I was able to work on both the emergency response and contamination remediation and assessment teams, which gave me a great base of experience with equipment and field work. The company provides 15 days of paid military leave for reservists.

      Cons

      The hours were rarely steady. Sometimes I would be stretching 20 hours of work to fill 40, and other times I’d have 80-90 hours in a week. For my first year, the company didn’t pay overtime to salaried employees. Pay was mediocre at best, and I only got two 1.5% pay raises in three years. One of them I had to actively fight for. The company would be turning a profit every month and then tell us they couldn’t afford pay raises.

      Politics, favoritism, top-heavy, and unqualified individuals who hold top positions with the company, too much overheard, upper management have no clue what is happening in the trenches, inhumane treatment of employees - as just numbers.
