      GHD after merger in 2016 had to reorganize to serve interests

      Pros

      GHD entered Canada in 2008 and quickly got few projects and started with skeleton staff, they got into problem handling complex projects so hired me from AECOM. By that time the difficult project was in bad shape, they hired me to get them out of the woods which I did. From here on they started with mergers and gradually they formed a big merger with CRA which tripped the balance and GHD main office in Markham became the backyard while CRA office in Waterloo started calling the shots. So the people in Watrloo made good. GHD top management also moved and the business is about resources.

      Cons

      Downside is that GHD Markham office was not allowed to look for work and gradually the leadership and skilled staff started moving out. I was transferred to Waterloo office and moved there to a hostile welcome, which continued for few months till I let go because they didnt have enough work for a senior Engineer.

      Pros

      Friendly culture and staff that were actually my friends. I liked the atmosphere and enjoyed coming to work every day. Overall a positive experience

      Cons

      Long hours and at times stressful. Design meetings were stressful and there were days when I couldn't focus properly as I had a lot of work to do.
