Pros

This is your typical retail sales job. It is a good outlet for those looking to gain knowledge of the sports nutrition and general health and wellness field. This job will give young people coming out of school who are looking to gain some customer service skills and learning how to sell.

Cons

The company has high expectations for sales staff. There are many sales quotas in different areas and hard to reach sales goals. This is a saturated market and the expectations from corporate are sometimes not conducive to the actual marketplace. The focus is on select items that are high margin and the typical push for increased sales compared to previous years.

Pros

Staff is very supportive and is a very comfortable, exciting environment to be in. You gain a lot of knowledge on the supplements at GNC, and it gets easier after the first couple of months. You can make some good money off the commission if you know what you're talking about and provide your clients with the best programs for them.

Cons

Some of the cons with the store I worked at was if you didn't sell enough of the GNC products, they would have a talk with you to get your mind back on track and try to incorporate some of the GNC products with every sale. Other than that, it was a great place to work at part-time during my college years.
