Pros

Great work environment if you enjoy nutrition and fitness but lots of downtime make it difficult to stay motivated. Pay is decent if you are in a A or high B volume store where commission can make a huge difference in your take home pay. Minimum sales numbers are extremely simple to hit if you are at least a mediocre sales person. Flexible scheduling and paid holidays are nice in any retail job.

Cons

Base Salary is insulting. Only if a manager is in a high volume store where commission can double your pay is it worth it. RSDs (Regional Sales Directors) can be extremely helpful or incredibly useless. It is amazing to see the kind of people who hold upper management positions in this company and witness thier lack of work ethic. The number of incompetent RSD's easily outweigh the number of under performing managers. The company recruits RSDs from outside the company who have never worked in a GNC store, hence the lack of overall experience. Career advancement is used as a "carrot on a string" in order to get the managers to do the most work with the least amount of compensation. Some managers are lucky to make the jump but they do so blindly (RSD's refuse to discuss salary associated with promotions.) Becoming an RSD is the end of the road although they are promised the world. Raises are decided based on a combination of sales figures for a particular store. So if the stores business has declined (competition, close proximity to another GNC) then the manager is penalized by receiving less of a raise.

Cons

Base pay is terrible, way to much busy work, planogram changes piss off customers almost more than they do employees

Pros

30% discount is a plus. Can be very lazy in a slow store. I did tons of studying for school during work.

Cons

Commission sucks now for new employees. Forced to sell crappy products. Working by yourself sucks. Managers most likely are miserable.
