Pros

-great promotion potential from associate to regional level (though this is due to high turnover at all levels) -excellent training from vendors on 3rd party items and free gifts to try out new products -opportunity to gain a lot of health and product knowledge

Cons

-because they promote from within, they lowball on salary so someone doing the same job could be paid $15-$20k more than you -the culture is high pressure, high stress, burn you out and find the next young buck to take your place....trust me, there is always someone else willing to take the job at low pay to get the experience on the resume -too many sales metrics...isn't the object to make money?

Pros

You have the potential to make high per hour income. This based on sales ability and knowing how to build stacks with the right products to make the most commission possible. This can range from $0-200 extra a day plus your minimum wage hourly pay. Not bad for part time.

Cons

Now the bad GNC is run on goals of achieving certain percentages in different categories in the store that if not met could lead to termination. Gold cards have to be at 18% so about 3-4 a day, foundation (protein, fish oil, probiotics) 24% a day, P3 certain gnc products and 3rd party products 38% Multivitamins 16% all divided by your total sales for the day. Now here is the kicker if you get a return on any product within these categories they take it off your percentage not the person who sold even if its a different store. Recently I should have had 20% in multi's and 40% P3 but because of two returns on something I didnt sell I ended with -11% multi and 18% P3. This is unfair and destroys morale when it happens.

Pros

The team that I was with was a great group to work with. All associates were open to sharing information and work ideas. During my tenure I saw several positions filled from within the company.

Cons

The management teams that I was exposed to are very much the micromanagers that we have all read horror stories about in textbooks and articles. The annual sales increase tops out at 2.5%.
