Pros

"The check looks good" - trainer

Cons

CULTURE - racism and queerphobia abound. Everyone has interpersonal issues and makes sure you know all their petty grievances. Professionalism? Don't know her. WORK/LIFE - there is a reason that USA Jobs postings only list transit reimbursement. Work 7 days a week for months in a row. People brag about 60 hour weeks or 18 hour days. In a question about 'how can you make sure we get off when we are scheduled to get off?' the Director said "I can't, you get off when the work is done." (except the work is never done, it's daily publishing). ORGANIZATION - nonexistent. There is no plan. There's no system. You do/use things because they worked 35 years ago (#microcomp) and the staff will lose their mind about any attempt at progress. Just, don't do it.

Pros

Great colleagues - smart, interesting, technical, progressive

Cons

It's government and unknown, so that's the biggest downside.
