- Lots of cool things to be built as a software engineer as the company moves from R&D to a more commercial product. - Really great software systems and practices for a biotech company. - Great work-life balance. Long nights happen, but the balance is there. - Lots of professional development opportunities with an emphasis on lifelong learning - Hardworking, mission-driven people who are there because they want to build something that changes lives.

Cons

- Some of the tooling needs to change as the company grows in size - Some personalities at the company who value titles too much. Lots of effort in place to change this

Very sharp colleagues, solid CEO who seems very transparent and appreciative of the effort.

Cons

not a lot of consistent leadership across the different departments which includes inconsistent VP and lower leadership. difficult to maintain work-life balance. new product management structure is not adopted by all orgs.

Pros

Mission case of detecting cancer is the easy one, but the push to help a broad population is what set Grail truly apart - the test works, now it's all about scalability. Great group of people, highly motivational mission, and good leadership.

Cons

Still trying to convert from a technically-focussed organization to a commercially-focussed one - too many projects heading of "because they're interesting" versus business value.
