Pros

Flexible hours, no dress code, work from home can be arranged. Lots of opportunities presented to challenge and improve your skills.

Cons

As any private company - very little is being done for or respected for anything that comes from bottom up. Good suggestions are being thrown away without reasoning behind it. Salary is always on lower end of the average in Toronto.

Pros

Met some amazing people, ok location I got my own pen after 2 days and finally figured out where the bathroom was day 3

Cons

Where to start. My first day I was told to not speak to anybody outside my department or I would be fired. There is a cloud of doom over everyone. Nobody is safe unless your last name starts with a G and ends with z. Never clean was yelled at more from hr director than my own mother. Not allowed to be late. Traffic or freezing. Rain is not a good excuse. Hit management can come and go as they please without telling you the game plan for the day. I googled a ton.

Pros

Your immediate team is usually good to work with

Cons

Upper management is largely disconnected from many developer/artist needs, their games platform and games are all very out of date, the code base for the site needs a total overhaul, the strain on developers is very high, the company runs much like a 1960's factory, hiring manpower in/out, sometimes entire teams/groups of people vanish, lots of behind-scenes politics, this is not the place to settle down for a "long" job if you want to buy a house/start a family/settle down. There is tons of crazy weeks, management is in disarry, and most importantly, none of them seem to even know what a game is, or ever played one, nor care about its running details + needs. Also nobody ever gets a raise - its handled much like a factory, in that 1yr, after your review, no matter that you performed excellent, exceeded, did extra work, you wil get exactly the inflation amount % increase - this usually leads to many surprised and angry people quitting or leaving in january/february. And they dont care about your ideas to improve things, fix process trains - this company is in stagnation. Also, while i had a decent salary, largely most people have mediocre, or unacceptable salaries, and they will NOT help with moving expenses. Some of their HR women are incredibly rude, and treat intelligent developers like juveniles, and have at times screamed at employees like irrate madwomen, shouting threats and instant termination over trifles such as being slighted in conversation or semantics when everyone plainly sees no error had been caused. This is unfortunately a poisonous place to work, and many people take on a bit of a gloomy attitude as time goes on. The only good that can be said is that usually your immediate team is protective of itself.
