Pros

Discount is about the only positive thing. Coworkers were relatively friendly, and management is okay and relatively nice, at best. Not a lot of positives.

Cons

I would give GAP zero stars if I could. Only schedule people who open credit cards, which is not something you can control. They promised hours and did not give them. They do not have a way to keep coworkers in communication with each other. They are horrible to their employees and only care about the profit. They did not train me at all for my job, and then proceeded to be aggravated when I didn't know how to do my job. There's no good reason why someone should work at this company. Their clothes are overpriced and they put way too much pressure on the employees.

Don't fall into the Gap

Pros

Friendly (many faux-friendly) People; Flexible Work Schedule, Great Cafe, Great Health and Wellness Benefits

Cons

HR Leaders behaviors are massively incongruent with organizations stated values. Ego and hubris run rampant with a sickening passive aggressive CYA mindset. Don't fall for the hype that joining this company is like joining 5 companies in one and career mobility is endless - it simply is not true. only the selected org favorites see moment, for the rest it's like climbing Everest as there is no internal mobility process and extreme silos keep Leaders from looking at Talent from other parts of the org. Bottom line - the people platform is all hype, just words on pages - no real commitment or leadership follow-through exists.

Pros

Discount, Multiple ways to get product for customers, Childrens clothing very affordable . Other locations have a more positive and happier work environment.

Cons

HR did not address real issues or concerns until its too late...Given false promises of relocation upon job openings, Upper management did not ever respond until you needed HR. SOME Management have no actual clothing or fashion experience and are placed in high level management positions, with NO IDEA on how to sell, merchandise, replenish, and train. Many GAP employees whom have been with them for years are allowed to do as they please, versus the Eagle Eye from Upper Management on Any Employee that is from another retailer. They claim you need to have Integrity, however if you question your bosses integrity, you are retaliated against until you can not put up with it any longer....The lack of support I was given was unbearable and I am a VERY SEASONED and Experienced Retail Manager. I have seen and experienced it all, but my treatment was some of THE WORST employee support system I had ever experienced. This makes me very sad to have had this experience with Gap, as I went into the role with Extreme High Hopes. I do understand this is not typical, however upper management in the some stores need a COMPLETE review. Turnover is high, some positions can NEVER stay filled, and staffing is almost a joke. They need to LET PEOPLE do the Job they were hired to do, even if they are not internal promos and have a little faith that they are there to better the brand....
