Pros

Brand recognition. Ability to make a career in the retail arena, if you have the ambition. Gap has a pretty good social responsibility attitude and wants, within reason, to be a progressive environmental company.

Cons

Unless you work in the business you are considered less important. For example, Finance, Human Resources, and Information Technology all play an essential role in the successful operation of the company. These corporate areas are not given the same amount of attention as the business and members of those teams are often thought of as second tier, versus true partners to the business.

Pros

Cool people, and it's the GAP! Pays well too. I think the company is well organized with efficient processes in place. The cafe is amazing, check out the view on a nice summer day, pretty unbeatable. The location is great, very convenient commute for anybody in the east bay, peninsula, or SF.

Cons

Work life balance isn't always great. Kind of a scene. They try to reinvent the wheel on a fairly regular basis. I think that the GAP could be very successful if they focused more money on talent and less money on a new system for this or that every year.

Pros

Decent benefits, okay salaries. Gap's creative teams are incredibly talented, joining those teams, and working with the people that actually do all the work, make the mid level management BS bearable.

Cons

As a creative, very little opportunity for advancement in the field of your choice. All recognition is taken by the mid level management. Very little respect and recognition given by mid level management to the people that do the work, which degrades employee morale quickly. With all the downsizing over the last few years, Work/Life Balance is decidedly Work heavy.
