Expect to work long hours& working over the holidays is mandatory. Depending on your store, management can be largely ineffective and don't always provide the leadership necessary to train new employees - this responsibility often falls to other sales associates. If you don't have a management position, forget about any sort of recognition or compensation (i.e., bonus) for a job well done - your management team will gladly take this on your behalf. Slackers and idiots are kept on staff, which means double the work load for those employees who are actually competent and interested in doing a good job.

As a creative, very little opportunity for advancement in the field of your choice. All recognition is taken by the mid level management. Very little respect and recognition given by mid level management to the people that do the work, which degrades employee morale quickly. With all the downsizing over the last few years, Work/Life Balance is decidedly Work heavy.
