Pros

At Gap headquarters there are some incredibly smart people. The company is turning around; and the company tries hard to donate to charity, encourage volunteerism, and provide employee learning and development opportunities.

Cons

Very hardworking people work very very very long hours and are expected to do the job of 2-3 people, to be indispensible and get a good performance review by management and peers. New employees have no time to ramp up.

Pros

The Gap brand is recognized worldwide, the employee discounts are good and you also get discount cards for your friends and family twice a year. Other then the management, my co-workers were some of the hardest working most creative people I have ever worked with, who always go the extra mile to get the job done. The employee health package is good, it covers medical, dental and vision plus they offer a great 401k program where they match the amount you put in, up to (I think) three thousand dollars. As far as time off goes, it was pretty easy to get without any hassle. but it takes a year to build up the paid time off to begin with.

Cons

1. Too many incompotent managers. 2. Efficiency experts 3. Corporate short term memory. The management acts like they really care about you but they could really care less. Each year you have to complete your "goals" so all year long you keep track of all the projects that you have worked on making sure they are "in line" with the company's goals, at the end of the year your goals are reviewed by your manager and their manager to determine what you raise will be for the next year as well as what your bonus for the current year will be. If you have not achieved your goals that is ground for termination. The lame part is, in my dept. each year only one(1) "above target rating" was awarded even though there were many more then one person that earned that rating.
