Pros

The staff is friendly and hard working.

Cons

Extremely unethical management. They take "creative accounting" to an all new level. Executive team gets monthly bonuses, vehicles, vacations, and furniture paid for while the workers get low wages and bills cannot be paid. People are berated in hallways, profanity is abundant, and hiring/firing is largely based on prejudices. Benefits are lousy and very expensive. No 401k match.

Pros

If you work Hard and follow the Policy you can work your self fast up to a better Position. the nice thing is you are guarantied 40hour pay with benefits. the other nice thing is two weeks paid vacation and 1 week paid sick leave. Now of course it depends on what type of Boss you get. So long you stay out of trouble privately and be on time at work you will have a Job

Cons

Crappy Upper Management what pays them self there Bonuses but tells there Managers you cant get your Raise even that you have a contract with them for the raise. Crappy Trucks and faults promises that you will get new Trucks 250 New truck divided by 184 Branches. The Person that Calculated that should be fired and if investors would invest in new Trucks you would get your Money back instead patching up trucks and sending people out without A/C. saving on the wrong end and giving the investors there Cut instead thinking on the people that risk there lives Daily. Any Owner knows if you keep your Employees Happy you will have less Theft and Less turnaround

Pros

Armored Car Driver/Messengers (Guard) is honorable work. You have to have 3 things and all 3 will be verified by the company prior to employment... 1) You have to have a clean driving record (needed to drive an Armored car. 2) You need a clean criminal record (needed to be able to carry a firearm in public) and 3) You need to have a good credit report because you need to be trust worthy enough to be able to work around a lot of money (that is not yours). If you have bad credit and have a lot of debt then it will be assumed that you are likely to take money that is not yours to pay for your debts. Some people just can't handle it.. They try to steal the money then get caught because the very thing they did to steal the money 100 other people before them already tried that same thing and got caught so Management and Corporate Security already know what to look for in most cases. Bottom line is if you like to take what's not yours don't bother applying because you will get caught and possibly arrested on Federal Charges. Oh and they will provide you with a bullet proof vest free of charge which I hear other Armored Car Companies don't and that's crazy!

Cons

Unfortunately GardaWorld in most facilities don't care if you are a good responsible human being. Once you start working for the company... you will be treated like you are expendable because you are and they will remind you of this every chance they get. You will have to endure unsafe working conditions with low pay. Their are people that have been working for the company for 10 years or so and still don't make over $20 an hour. Public perception is that your starting pay as an Armored Car Guard is $20+ an hour due to the risk and responsibilities involved with your job duties. Management acts like you are out there delivering boxes full of teddy bears. The reality is that you will be out there (in most cases) with no backup delivering and picking up boxes and bags full of currency (not teddy bears). As a Messenger you will be expected to do everything by yourself. You are accompanied by a driver but there isn't much that a driver can do to help you as they are not allowed to get out of the driver seat (unless they have to go use the bathroom of course but either then that drivers are expected to sit there for 8, 10, 12 and sometimes 14 hours). Your days will be long so don't expect to have a normal life especially if you have a family. It's like DOT Daily driving limits don't apply to the Armored Car Industry. Actually Management acts like they are exempt from all DOT Regulations. The old Armored Trucks have no business being on the road because they are unsafe to the crew and the public. Most of the older trucks leak oil every where. If you see an oil spot in front of a business there is a good chance that an Armored Car left it there. Be ready to endure extreme temperatures. In the winter most Armored cars don't have working heat and in the summer they don't have working air conditioners. Unfortunately there is no law that say employers have to provide air conditioned trucks in the summer time (believe me we checked). And that's all well and good for trucks that have open windows but Armored Trucks are sealed shut when in operation. So as an Armored Car Driver/Messenger be prepared to endure 110+ degrees with a bullet proof vest on in the summer and near zero temperatures in the winter, sometimes for 8, 10, 12 and 14 hours at a time. They do just enough maintenance on the trucks to keep the trucks moving. Training... what training? If something were to happen while you are performing your job duties (like a robbery) hope that your survival instincts will kick in and will get you through the crisis because you will get very minimal training from Garda World with firearms or driving those Armored Trucks. As a matter of fact Garda World invest very little money on training and developing their employees. Once upon a time Armored Car work was an honorable job... now days you are one of the lowest paid with highest risk in the security industry and transportation industries. UPS Drivers are better trained are safer and make a lot more money! Thumbs up to those guys... in other words you are better off going to go work for them.
