Pros

Thoughtful, honest management. Many paths towards career advancement. High growth. Stable, growing client base.

Cons

Few! Some people clock a lot of OT, but it's not mandatory as far as I can tell.

Growing Regional Firm

Pros

Garver is a people-oriented regional firm experiencing positive growth in the southeastern and south central US, and is well-diversified between various civil engineering disciplines, including aviation, transportation, water, and electrical utilities. There are currently great opportunities for advancement, and the leadership has a strong precedent of recognizing and rewarding merit.

Cons

As it is in a growth phase, the company is moving into new markets, which can be a challenge. The expectation and the norm is for employees to work hard and provide results, often moving from one big project to the next. This isn't necessarily a con; although it might be considered such for someone looking for a "coasting"-type position.

Pros

Higher level of expectations for young engineers. More responsibility allows quick development of discipline, experience, and personal growth. Emphasis on skill development.

Cons

Very limited amount of promotions. Salaries typically lower than average. Raises were underwhelming. Annual bonuses were not competitive. Emphasis on religion, particularly evangelical christianity. Very few CAD technicians.
