Pros
With almost 10 months into my newest role at Gate City Bank, over 26 years with GCB, and over 30 years of financial industry experience I continue to be amazed at the level of commitment and dedication of so many of our leaders from the top down! For example, when you have a President and CEO like Kevin Hanson who embodies tenacity, accessibility, and actively seeks out face to face connections with team members; it creates a work environment that is truly collaborative and inclusive which is invaluable to the success of Gate City Bank and our team members! Kevin's strong leadership along with others on the executive team compels me to want to do more for my own team members, customers, and community.
Gate City Bank's work culture continues to embrace remote work with many positions allowing for flexible work arrangements. Team members and leaders enthusiastically embrace this flexibility while maintaining the Bank's amazing culture.
A favorite annual benefit of mine is the Disconnect to Reconnect Program that allows team members to fully unplug from technology for one week providing them with an uninterrupted opportunity to recharge and even reconcile their own work-life harmony and who couldn't use that? What a great testament to Gate City's commitment to team member's well-being and overall mental health which I've noticed is a high priority at the Bank!
Gate City is constantly developing it's team members offering multiple ways to grow professionally. An example is the Grow Mentorship Program that I have been involved with the last couple years. I am honored to be a mentor to several up-and-coming team members and banking professionals both on my own teams and within the larger organization.
Cons
As traditional banking is still in high demand on weekends; banking locations still have some Saturday hours (though limited).
