Pros

1. Great pay 2. Great benefits 3. Recognize years worked

Cons

1. Horrible HR system (VERY disorganized and UNinformed) 2. If you have a 'challenging' boss, employee can easily be 'forced out' due to unfair representation. 3. Work and life balance NOT present as company claims it to be. 4. Follow-up to #3 - continuously pushed with increasing workloads to accomplish more and more. 5. Flexible / reasonable hours do NOT exist. 6. South San Francisco (SSF) isn't the greatest place ('shady') to headquarter a premier company. 7. Follow-up to #6 - company location makes for a LONG, jammed commute from ANY direction. 8. SSF headquarters is expanding too much and too quickly for its own good. Takes time to get from point A to point B.

Pros

Great time flexibility and some of the smartest people to work with. Free espresso and coffee machines all over the campus and great gym. You get paid to ride the bus by Genentech and again reimbursed by the state.

Cons

No growth or opportunity for promotion. Saturated with too many mid and upper level managers. Research Associates are made to work very hard.
