Pros

The pay is ok, although don’t expect leading benefits packages outside the US. This section is really tough to fill.

Cons

I think that its absolutely crazy to publicly tell the relatively large chunk of employees who left detractor employee satisfaction scores to discuss with their manager for a way out of the company. So much for listening to employee feedback, a real get on board or get out attitude from the company president. Compensation review nightmare... As if it isn’t insulting enough that a set pool of 3% across the company is handed out meaning there really isn’t enough to give everybody the raise they deserve, they cannot even adhere to their own deadlines to present the pay increases to employees. Unfortunately they have driven down silos and broken apart highly functioning teams, all to ensure all control comes from the US. Finally career progression upwards outside of the US is close to impossible and stepping sideways is rife with difficulties.

Thank you for taking time to share your thoughts. As a global company, we are proud to have an extremely international team, with almost half of the senior management holding a non-U.S. passport. We also have a history of promoting from within, with leadership opportunities employees located in the majority of the world (outside of the U.S.) including our head of global sales, who is based in London, U.K. We take employee satisfaction very seriously at Genesys; we welcome feedback and send pulse surveys out multiple times a year. Our management team reads every comment and we do our best to address any issues raised to continually improve the employee experience at Genesys. At the recent all-hands meeting you mentioned, I stated that we want everyone to be a promoter of the company as it is one of our core values to have happy and engaged employees. There is also a direct correlation between employee and customer/partner satisfaction, which we take very seriously at Genesys. If there are team members who are unhappy today but believe that they could become happy and engaged, we want to work together to address those concerns and make things better. However, if there are individuals who do not believe they can ever be happy here, that’s not healthy for the individual, the team or the company, and it just makes sense to support those (hopefully few) individuals to find a place where they can be happy. I am always available to discuss these matters or others which may be on your mind. -- Tom (Tom Eggemeier, President)

Worst company I have ever worked for

Pros

- Learn the ins and outs of the call center industry very fast

Cons

I have never worked for a company that treated their employees as badly and Genesys does. Upper management cuts corners at every turn and then blame the employees and withholds bonuses for not being able to keep up. I have had several members of management at different levels straight up lie to my face about several things. When I try to move to another department, they block me. I am overworked and underpaid and I see no reason to stay here.

I appreciate your taking time to provide feedback. We’ve been fortunate to be able to pay out bonuses the last few years and all employees are eligible – unlike many software companies. And while bonuses are based on company performance, they are also based on individual performance. So, if someone feels they are not fairly compensated, it’s probably because their manager has concerns about their contributions. Fortunately, we do have an open door culture, so I encourage you to talk to your HR Partner, functional leadership, or me, about the things that are bothering you. …Tracy (Tracy Cote, SVP HR)

Pros

Most of the Colleagues are friendly and supportive.

Cons

1. Lack of clarity around strategic goals and priorities. 2. Presence of politics across departments with no leadership transparency. 3. Limited room for advancement and a lack of recognition or appreciation for hard work. 4. Instability in marketing leadership with the removal of many senior leaders and their teams. 5. Absence of a training/onboarding process for new hires and inadequate documentation. 6. Regular layoffs occurring without notice, leading to a lack of job security. Personal experience of being laid off just before the holiday without any prior notice, contrary to the company's claimed core value of "Empathy." 7. Incompetent managers in their respective areas often manipulate business metrics. - Lack of a clear vision results in repetitive tasks for direct reports, euphemistically referred to as "pivoting." - Discouragement of cooperation across departments, with a tendency to conceal information for personal benefit. - Disregard for individual career development, coupled with an unwillingness to take responsibility and a tendency to blame others. 8. Last thing, and most importantly - When evaluating the reviews here, it's crucial to approach the overall rating of 4 (sometimes 4+) with a critical eye. Break down the feedback into different demographics to identify nuanced patterns. - Pay attention to the number of 5-star reviews contributed by current employees with less than one year of tenure. Note that new hires are often requested to submit reviews on Glassdoor through the welcome letter.
