Pros
They'll hire just about anyone, so if you need a job you can come here.
Cons
They us VB and Web Forms for new development. Those are fine for legacy code, but this policy means GS will permanently be a legacy shop. Working on those technologies will get you marked as a legacy developer and make your life difficult. You will have no opportunity to work on current generation technologies here. They hire SMEs as business analysts. These people do not know how to provide software requirements and are not trained. The business analyst on my project failed to provide requirements for months on end with no consequence to her. Our manager said we would just make it up with overtime. "Work-life balance" isn't even a word here. Upper management refuses to talk to normal workers. They rely on a handful of people for 100% of their information, so they get a deeply skewed perspective that makes their informants look good. Problems go unsolved for months or years, then normal programmers are forced to work overtime to compensate. Getting an adult in the room in neigh impossible.
