Pros

Good to know about what is being taught and being a part of it. Interaction with students and helping them to learn new thing.

Cons

Well I didn't find any Cons apart from students turning down the recitation lectures which are meant for them and which can help them to score high.

Depends on your department, but poorly compensated

Pros

If you're a student, working on campus is a good way to make reliable money. You can work with professors, who can assist you later in your career.

Cons

Competence of managers varies. Sometimes you will have zero contact, and other times they will be overly controlling and bullying. Just realise that you can switch jobs between different parts of the university as needed, so if you have a bad experience you can just quit and find work elsewhere.
