Low drama, low pay, high trust, cool clients

Pros

Very little drama relative to other agencies (with a few exceptions based on the account you’re on). Lots of trust given if you get a good manager, and there are more good managers than bad here. The clients are incredible and buy in to the idea of premium which is what they come to GPJ for, but it also means the bar is high. But the ESOP is the golden handcuffs.

Cons

Low pay. Expect 10-15% below market, and even then you sometimes hear leaders mentioning that HR costs are too high. Most accounts have no drama but there are some projects where everything is drama all the time, and that’s primarily caused by a handful of people who have made it to director or senior director titles who lack courage or are in over their heads but are afraid to admit it.

Pros

GPJ is an incredible company. Lots of opportunity for growth, most roles seem to be on salary, unlimited/flexible time off, successful and noteworthy projects that you gain experience on.

Cons

The executives at this company are unrealistic with their expectation of Gen Z and other employees to be able to afford a hybrid work situation. GPJ has 5 offices in the USA - Boston, NYC, Austin, Detroit, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. The current, and very strict, policy is twice a week in-office (hybrid). Management is paying lower level full-time employees $56,000 - $65,000 a year. It's unfair to expect these young employees to have a healthy or stable life, or to be able to save money for emergencies or large purchases, while living in one of these major cities. Average rent in these cities is $1,500 or more. Rent, for me, is 50% of my salary. And that doesn't include food, utilities, or other cost-of-living expenses. I want to start a family, and this income, while living within appropriate driving range to one these cities, will not allow me to buy a house or start a family. Expecting employees to either live in a major city OR commute 2-4+ hours a day WILL result in high turnover. I don't see a good business outcome for GPJ if they continue to expect all employees to live in major US cities to fulfill their hybrid requirement if they continue paying the salaries they are currently paying. The pay gap is widening too much between lower level employees and executives, and unfortunately, it doesn't seem like GPJ is in touch with the changing times, economy, and evolving cultural values, such as working from home full time, which is a major priority for most US employees and Gen Z.

Pros

The colleagues are friendly, and the company fosters a fantastic culture with a wide range of excellent initiatives designed to engage and support employees. The benefits overall is satisfying, and the employees pay small amount each payroll for the health insurance. They offer ESOP for employees.

Cons

payment for the creatives is low compared to other similar companies. Annual salary raise is very minimal. And the employees' contribution to the Health insurance has increased, while annual raise is not quite matching up. ESOP takes 6 year to be fully vested, which is quite long.
