Pros

some departments are wonderful - well-run, full of fun people, places that make you want to go to work every day.

Cons

others (most) are run into the ground. georgetown is falling apart, the administration never tells anyone anything, most admin jobs are dead end .... everything takes forever to get done ... zero incentives for creativity, everyone just wants to go home and cover up problems if they occur instead of solving them

Pros

1) Progressive and intellectually stimulating. 2) Community-driven with an open culture of discussing the lives of students, staff, and faculty. 3) Amazing students who come from every country you can imagine. 4) Great exposure, often holding events with the world's leading names.

Cons

1) There is a palpable difference between being faculty and staff in terms of priveleges. 2) Sometimes the small size of the workplace can have its drawbacks in terms of lack of privacy. 3) There is an uneven workload depending on the department you are in. 4) It does not seem attractive to young people to work there.
