Pros

-Diverse community from the DC and Nova areas -Interesting work, if you like working with the areas of science, politics and religion -incredibly sharp yet humble people to work with -hard-working people -lots of nice events to attend, and a lot of holiday time off, and also -pretty good benefits, but it depends on your position -almost impossible to get fired: you really have to try hard to get canned from this place, which is both good and bad in certain situations

Cons

-Georgetown lowballs almost everyone they try to hire. In a city as overpriced as DC/Nova, this is absolutely insulting, especially considering how expensive their tuition is -DC/Nova is overpriced -Some gossip and office drama in certain departments, but overall, not too bad -Parking is so expensive that it is impossible for most employees to drive, so you are forced to take the metro and/or buses -some of the students come from extremely wealthy families and are unpleasant to be around if you're a normal person

Pros

The students I interact with are exceptional people from all over the world. My colleagues are intelligent and by and large committed to the department mission. The benefits are excellent.

Cons

Compensation for administrative positions is terrible to the extent that is begs the question of justice and fairness, something that is a very important value for a Jesuit institution. The personnel policies and practices are archaic and defensive on the part of the university. The personnel policies (including compensation) are not worthy of the rest of the university's ideals.
