Good idea, bad practice

Pros

Steady work, always had a paycheck. Say the right thing to the right person and get promoted regardless of skill level. Hourly positions still pay and have good benefits. Good to have a job in this economy.

Cons

They have a good philosophy, but no one including the Kock brothers practice it. No one will give a straight answer for fear of being held accountable to it, compensation, benefits, promotional opportunities are a joke, no raise in three years, none on the horizon, no bonuses as promised, you can get better medical benefits on social security or state assistance. Pick and use any mbm principles they think will serve their immediate needs, disregard the rest. Talk safety and accountability, but haven't a clue what that means.

Don't Bother

Pros

Management does not fire anyone unless you really do something big they can't ignore and the corporate office gets involved.

Cons

It used to be a good company to work for before Koch Industries. It is long hours, no raises in years and too many top managers.

Pros

Stable company. No layoffs in in recent history.

Cons

Management hides behind the "MBM Guiding Principles" any time they are forced out of their comfort zone. GP has taken MBM and bastardized it to the point where it is unrecognizable in practice at the plant level. No salary increases or bonuses since Koch bought the company in 2005. Total micromanagement at all levels. If you have ever had an original thought, GP is not the place for you. Middle managers are continually thrown under the bus to avoid calls to the anonymous employee complaint "hotline". Have witnessed long time successful managers careers ruined by false and inflated calls to this hotline.
