Pros

Unlimited PTO. Decent comp on hire.

Cons

Csuite execs aren’t the best leaders, removed from what their teams need or who is actually contributing in an effective way. I had a severe micromanager who also was very absent and changed their mind constantly. No opportunity for growth in this job category. Promotions are not equitable or standard. No one is ensuring EBAs are measured against the same standards. Severe favoritism. Get ready to get “handbooked” and told to do things the “GitLab way”… Hope you enjoy spending your day taking verbatim notes for calls as well, complete waste of time.

Great company that has been losing it's way

Pros

- The pay and benefits are competitive - The CEO is level-headed and a true thought leader. Would give him 5 starts except that his leadership team is not high performing and inconsistent. - The unique approach to enable people to be a "manager of one" is effective (e.g., very good at documenting process and responsibilities)

Cons

- Currently, there seems to be a leadership void that is resulting in a deterioration of the company values. In at least one particular department, an interim leader leverages a fear based leadership style. - Team members are sensing chaos coming from the executive team. - There is an over emphasis on short term results over long term planning and team member experience.

Pros

* Remote * Flexible vacation policy

Cons

* The company has zero diversity. Women rarely speak up, rarely get promoted, and as you can see on the team page, rarely make it to the top. Women have left after being harassed by their managers, and no one's done anything about it. * Compensation is definitely below the normal, as much as they claim it isn't * Fast growth is causing a culture shift and competitiveness is becoming the norm - this isn't the GitLab it was years sgo
