Good company overall, but the culture is getting worse and worse

Pros

- Asynchronous - allows great work-life balance - Great people - Encourages growth, offers good internal opportunities - Flexible PTO

Cons

Culture is getting worse and worse, unfortunately, and has been for the past 1,5 years. I used to be certain I want to work at GitLab, and would turn down offers that were twice what GitLab is paying me. Unfortunately, the culture is getting more and more corporate, the values are no longer respected (nor it feels like they are present) like they were a couple of years ago. The leadership pushes for more meetings, and the autonomy of team members is decreasing. Unfortunately, it feels like Transparency as the value disappeared. On one hand, GitLab praises itself for DIB initiatives, on the other hand - lays female managers and ICs off. Employment solutions are also poor - GitLab is proud of its all-remote culture but has lots of limitations in terms of where it can hire. Employees who are contracted via a PEO solution barely have any benefits, and invoicing extra expenses can be problematic as well. Considering the recent shift in the culture, I am currently open to other offers that come my way.

Pros

Remote, pays for your internet, supportive leadership

Cons

Only 1 stale product, only way to sale is to constantly push Ultimate on customers which has been around since 2019, other industry players are catching up to GitLab which makes customer retention a serious issue now

Pros

Benefits are great, non-linear work days.

Cons

Inconsistent management strategy. Silos in the sales org. Scaling as a company in response to growth has been shaky.
