Overall great place to work

Pros

Overall I think GoCo is an excellent place to work. We're very lucky to have a leadership team that truly cares about the individual employees at the end of the day. Despite some growing pains that I believe are typical to any company at this stage, the pros vastly outweigh the cons. - The people are really smart and fun to work with - Great product that's constantly evolving - Really motivating to be able to help HR pros and therefore see an impact of our work in many businesses - Lots of freedom to learn and grow (can be a con if you're not used to the pressure that comes with that level of freedom) - Accessible leadership team that works to elevate the voices of all employees - Dedicated people ops team that works very hard to make it a fun, supportive, and connected work environment where you can build a career - Fully remote with unlimited PTO and flexible hours (again could be a con for some if you're not able to navigate that environment) - Transparent CEO & founders that keep all employees in-the-know with the performance and happenings of the company - Recently brought on super talented additions to the leadership team so the future is only getting brighter

Cons

GoCo has a lot of growing pains typical to many companies at this stage. It's a weird space between being a startup and a mature company and you have to be very agile to thrive in it. Some of the current downsides of navigating this space are: - Burnout is common, especially with the most tenured employees who have been keeping this pace for years. Those who do not come from a start-up environment or are not used to a higher level of ambiguity also do not last very long. - High expectations of employees because we are often flexing across roles and working with less resources (I do appreciate that GoCo has been extremely thoughtful with staffing and didn't do the typical tech start-up move of mass hiring followed by a mass layoff, but some teams are definitely spread too thin) - Less structure and clear career paths in place (many people have paved their own way to advancement but now that we're a much bigger team this is becoming a con)

Great culture, lower pay

Pros

The company culture is by far the greatest part of GoCo. It’s collaborative, fresh, and fun as far as workplaces go. By far the best benefits I’ve ever seen at a company. And everyone is ready and willing to work towards a collective goal!

Cons

The pay scale is on the lower side of the average curve at best, some are even lower than the low end of what national averages are for a title in the USA.
