Pros

The GSF Foundation does an excellent job in giving back to the community. The time and money it invests in helping others really showe.

Cons

At this company there is a great deal of importance on its creed & values, however they are not adhered to at all. The environment is similiar to “Big Brother is watching you.” The root cause of this problem is the CIO, who constantly micro manages and plays favorites. Others are quick to notice the partiality from the CIO, and can easily become disengaged, as a result. In addition, there is no work-life balance and no support to pursue growth. The expectation is to work within a little box. This lack of support reduces productivity & innovation.

Pros

All the workers in all departments are friendly and get along with eachother. There are many good people working here.

Cons

Upper management treat workers of all departments like lesser individuals. There is lack of proper training as management fails to hire from within and choose to bring in individuals when there are qualified workers who know the job and the culture. This tends to grow resentment from the overlooked workers who then have to train the new hires to lead andmanage the workers themselves. Over the course of 6 months that I worked there, many individuals quit because of the horrible work/life balance of the job here. It does not matter how hard you work, your efforts will be overlooked. The general consensus is that by catering food to the workers a few times a year, the company can be ran with little regard for the actual workers. This is a Food manufacturing and distribution center, yet the general disregard for overall safe food handling and manufacturing conditions is deplorable. The only real effort made is to ensure that business is not lost from the various food companies GSF is a vendor for. There is little regard for how the products will impact the people who will consume the products. If you want to do monotonous work than this is the perfect job for you, just make sure you do not want an opportunity to move up in the company, because that's certainly not what you will get.

Pros

Professional work environment, excellent location in Irvine Business District, the company is implementing new technology to update their methods of doing business, which I find hopeful. I think there are a lot of good people who work here. Lots of tenure here at GSF. Birthday and anniversary day per month to celebrate with cake! Also depends what department you work in as some departments are more current with the times - IT for example. Family-oriented work environment which is nice. Good opportunities to get some advanced training and learning.

Cons

- No paid vacation for a year for professionals - Outdated "old school" culture where they want you to work 8-5 (no flexible work hours) - No music (dead silent environment) and no streaming music allowed - Too much concern and surveillance about internet usage - Wi-fi doesn't work so well in the building (outdated wi-fi?) - Pay is not super competitive and in line with the external market
