Pros

Company is like family when they want to be (which is almost a must due to the fact you will be with them 90% of your waking hours). Very community oriented. Very well compensated (to make you turn a blind eye for as long as possible)

Cons

Good luck with any work/life balance. If you are not upper management, do not expect to see much outside of the facility. Several people make the working environment absolutely miserable. The C-level either is superbly oblivious or flat out does not care how terrible it is to work here.

Pros

Union pay is great and the benefit packages are awesome.

Cons

I worked here for over 5 years and HATED every moment of it. No life/work balance at all especially if you work on second shift as pouch machine operator. (1) No days off - if you're looking for a normal job with weekends (or any days off) this is not the company for you. As a new hire you will have no seniority and will be working 12 hour shifts 7 days a week with MAYBE an occasional Sunday off. Even those of us that had seniority rarely got a day off. (2) Poor management - Mangers here are absolute hypocrites. They spout off about "creed and values", but I promise that only applies to the company and its clients; not company and employees. The managers do NOT care about the employees at all. They also have too many managers - they have managers that manage the managers! (3) They hire incompetent supervisors all of the time (they hire and fire them constantly). In my 5 years with this company I went through at least 8 supervisors and that was just in the ketchup department - most of them were fired and a few just up and left. (4) The communication line between management, supervisors, and employees is an absolutely a joke and it costs the hourly employee jobs. (5) They are moving the meat department in Conyers, GA without offering the meat department employees the opportunity to move along with their jobs. Instead, they are giving them a severance package that may last a couple of months then they are on their own.

Pros

GSf allowed me the freedom to express myself and become all that I aspired to be. The Wetterau family have all the prerequisites to be the best at what they do.

Cons

No cons if you love hard work and free thinking, work at GSF
