Pros

- Looks good to have a goldman sachs on resume?

Cons

- the company is all about finance! You get treated like a second class citizen! you have a degree in Computer Science from a top tier university and at times your job requires helping a finance genius figure out how to install a software. - no invocation. You get to support mess of a software created by your predecessor. - very long hours. 7 am to 9 pm yes sir! - bad pay.

Pros

The benefits are amazing. Great coverage and a good 401K match program. Working in SLC you might have an opportunity to have more of a work life balance but it depends on the team they assign you to. If you get on your managers good list you might get a good bonus which would bring you up to a normal salary.

Cons

SLC is an outsourced office like India is. In SLC you are a back office employee, please please don't think you are going to have an opportunity to get to the front office from SLC. People do it but it is truly 1 in 500. Compensation is very every low because you are doing work that college kids do. If you are an experienced hire don't think about SLC because they want cheap labor which means only college kids. Don't expect to be doing any real financial work as this is the operations division and you only work with systems and processes. Expect to have poor managers who don't know how to communicate like normal people. Because this is operations you don't have anybody here who is a outgoing and communicates well. Expect you manager to do nothing. Once you are at the company 5 years you might be considered a team leader and you then get to just surf the web. Don't be fooled by their claim that there is a lot of growth in SLC. There is but most of it is coming in the technology division. Even if there is growth in your team they will not hesitate to bring people from NY or LDN or HK to manage. Remember this job is more like a support job so be ready to be treated poorly by clients as well as other GS employees from bigger offices. Knowledge is non-existent here. Everybody tries to pass off questions to the next team because GS does not train you to know the whole picture just your one little function.

Pros

Great firm, competitive nature, numerous opportunities. Just not in Marcus

Cons

Marcus by Goldman Sachs is a dead end division within Goldman Sachs. It is a newer team within the consumer banking division but Marcus is not traditional Goldman. A call center with poor management , no accountability of work, no standards set, and absolutely no communication amongst team members. Would advise looking within different divisions at Goldman Sachs
