Pros

- Currently strong and growing (for now) - Profit sharing - They contribute $1 for every $2 dollars employees put in their 401k up to 6% of your earnings.

Cons

- Human resources is awful. This department is unhelpful, unprofessional, dishonest, and do a very poor job. A major weak link in the chain. - Obtaining " leadership" positions, as well as most upper level positions, is purely a popularity contest and in many cases depends solely on being related to the right people. A major downfall of a "family company". - There is a major division between the warehouse, marketplace, and offices. Getting these areas of the company to work together and stop being childish and petty is nearly impossible. Moving from one area to another is almost impossible despite your experience or education. - IT and IS is another major weak link in that chain. The software developed for company specific applications is very buggy if it even works. When you contact them for support no one ever seems to know anything about any of the technology in company. - The cornerstone values, which initially attracted me to this company, are nothing more than something to hang on a wall or a marketing tool used to make customers and employees feel better about doing business with GFS. - Many of the people in junior and middle management don't seem to care and have the "good is good enough" attitude. The only time you see them actually make an effort is when senior management gets on their back.

Pros

Very few.. they seem very egar to hire you, perhaps because what a bad job it is. You do get a employee discount so thats ok.

Cons

Worst work experience of my life. While the recruiter was very nice but they really downplayed the hours you had to work and type of (stock) work it turned out to be. I interviewed with the DM and while he was very interested in hiring me the GM I was training under never seemed to care about me and even less about my Assistant Manager training. From Day one I was nothing but extra Stock labor to him. Perhaps since I wasn’t his pick internally to hire for the position he just felt he could treat me poorly, show lack of respect for my years of being a GM myself and make such a hostel work environment I would have no desire to stick around. In any event it was a very disappointing work environment and life is 1000 times better after leaving GFS
