Benefits, pay, work life balance

Cons

Culture is toxic, very unhappy employees, people overweight, lots of anxiety and depression. Treated as a number. No growth. Thankless company. Micromanaged. 150-200 dials a day to get maybe one or two people on the phone. You can go an entire week without talking to one person. Time away from desk is tracked anything over 6 minutes is unacceptable. Hard work and grind goes unnoticed. Once your in this position, you are stuck. Some RDOs are never to be seen but yet so quick to fire. You miss more than two months quota even just by one student, your on corrective action and micromanaged with fear of losing your job. Very easy to gain weight sitting at a cubicle all day. No fulfillment in this position. They sell you on “helping people find their purpose” yet they don’t care about your purpose you also in education sales, you are not a counselor! I could continue but I think you get the point. Not for the faint of heart.

Avoid Full Time Online Teaching at GCU

Very nice co-workers. Salary is pretty good.

Cons

Online faculty have to work on-campus and sit in a cubicle all day. Administrative managers often have lower education levels than instructors and little content knowledge of the areas they manage. Number of students is 80-100 minimum per instructor. Required weekly tasks are excessive and the only education that is happening is with students who are self-directed. Instructors do not have time to do anything but process classrooms.

Cons

Terrible management, hands down. Very hostile work environment with a lot of weird/awkward office drama. Not my thing. Also, I often didn't agree with the business practices and enrollment strategies. I have to feel good about what I am doing and it was hard to do that there, even if you excelled on the requirement matrix.
