Pros

Great culture, the employees have a good sense of comradery and help each other work through difficult issues without question. The management appreciate the employees and their time and do not ask us to work overtime unless it is an absolute emergency. The company pays the majority of my benefits and the coverage I have is great. Ultimately the best thing about Gravity Jack is that the people here have a wonderful environment to create the software that they love to create.

Cons

I would say that the only major CON I would list is that it tends to be a little too cold in the office. (even when its hot out) A CON in the past (now remedied) was a major disconnect between design/development and upper management. I do not believe I or many of the employees knew our upper management when I first started 2+ years ago but today it is truly like we are one big family.

This is fantastic! As you know, the whole team has worked extremely hard to grow and foster this new and exciting culture over the last few years. Both management and our amazing, positive and honest team are due a ton of credit for this growth -- so thank you for being a part of it! I know personally (as I'm sure you have as well) that I've heard each and every executive/manager express dedication to protecting and encouraging the exact improvement in culture you're referring to. Supporting it is Gravity Jack's number one priority. As for the temperature reports -- we're on it! Thanks for the feedback! :)

Fun, especially for life learners.

Pros

At Gravity Jack you get to work on very exciting stuff and it is always changing. We get to play with cool toys: Oculus Rift, AR glasses, Google Glass, drones, the latest iPhones and Android devices. Free soda, drinks, and snacks. Everyone gets a nice iMac or Macbook Pro, and these get updated every 3 years. Developers do not get stuck working on the same platform if they are interesting in learning a new platform. Speaking of learning, GJ lets all their developers spend up to one hour a day on company time to further their skills. None of the developers have an ego problem, and everyone treats everyone with respect. Rarely does management ask for someone to stay late. Management is good at listening to employees. This company has grown at lot. In fact, many old employees are trying to get hired back.

Cons

GJ requires that its developers be somewhat self sufficient. If you need micro-managed this is not the place and you will not do very well. GJ takes on a lot of small custom software projects so often a developer will be a team of one. Some may not like this but the other developers are always willing to help out. These projects usually don't last long, so not a big deal. Salaries are probably slightly lower than other programming jobs in the area, but GJ makes up for it learning opportunities and interesting projects. I expect that salaries will pickup since business is clearly growing with several new government projects.

Pros

I like my job. Given the fact that a lot of the development is augmented reality, you're working on projects that aren't typical apps, websites, etc... Keeps it fresh. Cool relaxed team and a growing culture that seems to be becoming more and more developer focused (as far as rewards and making sure the work/life balance is managed well) which is nice. We're given access to discuss and work with clients when we need to which helps productivity at times.

Cons

"client is always right" approach can sometimes get in the way of what should be priority on projects from a development standpoint. Projects can run the risk of getting feature happy...That said, project management does a pretty good job of managing those types of things and keeping clients focused for the most part. Also, word is that investors are helping big time. Would be cool to understand that and hear about it more. Seems to be doing a lot of good, but wouldn't mind hearing about it.
