Pros

GH goes to great lengths to hire the right people to further their goals. They truly believe in their mission of providing classical education to all. The students are always considered first. Benefits are excellent.

Cons

Pay is severely under market. Their also are significant growing pains occurring that the lead office doesn't seem to know how to counter.

Pros

I worked with a lot of bright, recent university graduates who through general talent, resourcefulness and hard work provided students who matched the school's implicit profile with an exceptional middle-secondary education.

Cons

From day 1 there was nowhere to go as a viable career. They take smart new grads who haven't figured out where to work yet and burn them out with low resources and extra responsibilities. There are also older teachers who generally have kids at the schools and/or subscribe to the philosophy that a heavy humanities curriculum is the only possible way to get a good education for all children and circumstances.

Pros

Rigorous curriculum and I enjoy being around the students. I love the core virtues that we include in our daily culture. These schools allow our scholars to think deeply and discover truth on their own, which is important.

Cons

Teacher pay is very, very low considering the amount of time we put in, especially with the lengthy evaluations we must complete during our breaks. The Great Hearts leadership team are clearly very conservative Christians/Catholics and their personal beliefs have a negative impact on the way the schools are operated. Teacher recruitment is very bad and results in a terrible teacher turnover rate.
