Pros

•good community surrounding the school •involved parents but not overbearing

Cons

•Excepts all teachers to be carbon copies of one another and teach the exact same (No freedom in your teaching style) • Very discriminatory of staff and students appearance (does not accept everyone) •Requires a bible in the classroom at all times (but will not tell you this in any of your interviews, will tell you your first day after you’ve already signed a contract) •People in Administration will talk “down” to you like you are below them •Not allowed to implement any of your own material into the curriculum •No teaching license or credentials required so most teachers have no real training in the field •No technology allowed in the classroom

Pros

The students are great. I still believe in the values of the school and incorporation of classical teachings. The safety precautions during covid were were very well enforced and supported. Teaching during a pandemic is never easy, but they made it work.

Cons

Management does not value veteran teachers at all. They will guilt trip you and take advantage of you and your experience with zero sympathy. It starts at the top. Inexperienced headmasters (specifically, Headmaster Audelo) will buckle under pressure and cave to the loudest voice in the room instead of doing what is right for the school. I’ve worked at different GH institutions and they are each run according to the tone of the headmaster. In my entire education experience (7+ years) I have never seen assistant teachers so undervalued as I did when I was here. We have all been affected from COVID in some way, but a coworker of mine couldn’t even get 2 days off from work to bury her mother when they could’ve easily spared her. If you tell them you are flexible, they will break your back. Stand firm by your boundaries and what you have rightfully earned as a teacher.

Pros

Pay and benefits are good and faculty and staff are valued.

Cons

Administration does not follow the rules and provides special favors to certain staff and PSO members to the detriment of the emotional well being. of the students. Ignores parent inquiries and allows faculty and staff to have intimate relationships with parents in positions of power (PSO) and ignores the student records as to whom is to permitted to remove a child from campus. I am concerned because administration disregards or doesn't check paperwork to ensure the children are permitted to leave with the identified contacts for pick up. Also some faculty are allowed to bend the rules if they are involved with parents who are on the PSO.
