A job, not a career

Pros

If you get in the good graces of the right people, there are opportunities for growth. The people who truly care, will treat you like family.

Cons

It's a boys club, positions are often posted with employees already picked, if they even post it. Not what you know, it's who you know. Being an overachiever will only get you more work, not a promotion. The family company feel is fading away; bounces are valued higher then doing right by the employees and stores.

Pros

The staff was great!!

Cons

Hours were slim. Pay was little with a lot of extra responsibility. Very little room for growth or promotion and pay raises were non existent.

understaffed

Pros

-there are plenty of hours. even at minimum wage i was making ~2k/month.

Cons

-understaffed, everyone is overworked, underpaid, with zero benefits (no percentages off and we aren't even allowed to use the company standard 3 dollar off coupons). -boss plays favorites, and if you aren't a favorite prepare yourself for condescending tone and general pettiness (like forcing you to use a register you don't like). If you are a favorite you will be piled on with more and more responsibilities. -workplace friendships are discouraged. even when well staffed we aren't allowed to take breaks at the same time. -because of the above everyone is miserable and it makes for a terrible working environment but nothing is being done to reach out to employees whatsoever. I have never felt so undervalued and overworked at the same time. -if we worked at the pace that the owner does then our hours would get cut.
