Pros

Timing of product launch ideal, some good people, able to get private funding like crazy!

Cons

Founders and most of senior management completely out of touch with the realities of running the business-they've never run a [real] business before! Solid hires leave within 3-4 months of realizing what they got themselves into. Man in charge professes that core values drive "everything we do" but never lives that mantra.

Pros

A decent salary and a tough job market are the only things keeping the employees from leaving.

Cons

1) No work-life balance. Up to 7-8 hours of meetings in a day and they expect us to work on top of that. Constant burnout due to working long hours. I am a hardworking individual but I couldn't keep up with this lifestyle as it took a toll on my health and personal life. 2) Toxic Management. Managers will start complaining about you behind your back if you give more priority to your personal life. Even taking sick leave feels like a crime. 3) Frequent lay-offs. 4) Management expects us to work at the same pace even after firing 50% of the team. For them, you are just another person who can be easily replaced no matter how many years of your life you give to the company. 5) The management team only cares about climbing up the position ladder so they will burn out the employees just to showcase how much they have achieved every quarter, but when it comes to promoting the employees, they will start complaining about the budget constraints. 6) A lot of favoritism. You will only get promoted if you keep praising your boss and not for your hard work.

Pros

Compensation (base salary + bonus + RSU) are competitive. Plenty of money in the budget for things. Company is dedicated to helping cancer patients, which is generally considered good. Not many toxic people compared to previous companies I've worked in.

Cons

IT is basically useless. Their ticketing system is broken. Tickets have to be manually escalated or they are ignored. The company LIMS is a joke. It goes down every week and people are locked out for hours. Preplanned updates wind up changing way more than they are supposed to. The software support team is completely siloed from the rest of the company, and makes huge changes all the time without asking any of the lab teams if they'll be affected by systems downtime. Senior and executive management do the best they can, but stuff changes all the time for no good reason. They function like a startup, but they've been around for a decade and are subject to many regulations. Not a good mix, definitely the worst of both worlds. Burnout is rampant throughout the company. Everyone from entry-level employees to directors have complained about it. Turnover is high. HR finds reasons not to make changes or take action.
