Pros

Stabile, steady as she goes, old line mutual insurance company. Has had many new initiates to be more innovative in the marketplace over the decade that I worked there. US based and focused and with an ongoing commitment to the owners of the company (life insurance policy owners) takes a long term view for just about everything. Deeply loyal and trusting employee culture.

Cons

Not first to market. New initiatives oftentimes are planned to payback within first year (i.e. no long term investment in developing these initiatives). Small percentage of officers relative to employee base - downside is that if you are in a reporting line where the manager is out for themselves, your best work with either not see the light of day or someone else will take FULL credit for it. Outside management take the culture for granted.

Pros

Good Benefits. Company provides Pension which is almost unheard of now. Decent Pay

Cons

Little to no Advancement opportunities. They don't consider Education level when looking at promotions or other positions. They do consider brown nosing however. It is very difficult to get anywhere or move positions. High Stress and very little job satisfaction. High goals which are not attainable. Management doesn't know the job of the underlings so the decisions are not made very well. Overtime and Outsourcing is the reaction to very poor Management decisions.

Pros

Company stability. its a very large company. Little room for career advancement and no encouragement for woman leadership within IT even though CEO is a woman.

Cons

Company culture not dynamic. Routine work is dull and no change in technology/people. Not too many opportunities for growth. HR is very non responsive. Growth opportunities are very rare. Immigration process takes forever and absolute no transparency to employees regarding his immigration updates.
