Pros

HCSS has so many benefits to employees: - the health insurance is by far the best I've seen - there is a learning fund for employees - open door policy with executives - accessibility to gym equipment and exercise classes - transparency on company financials - great people: who are almost always very willing to help - prioritization of work / life balance: you aren't punished for getting sick, needing to take your car to the shop, or working from home once every 2 weeks - unexpected cool things: car mechanic that comes by to do basic services and car wash service - ESOP: a great way to get people invested in the decisions made by the company - profit sharing

Cons

the company has wonderfully positive intentions but I think there is a difficulty in executing those intentions: - the executives have an "open door" policy which is great but there is still very much a "CEO or executive" says jump and you are expected to say "how high?" tendency. I can understand this to a certain degree as they are signing your paycheck but it breeds a culture of "Yes" people being the most successful as opposed to collaboration and open conversation - ESOP: I love this and hated it. This lead to hardworking people working too hard and then greedy people only caring about numbers on a page. This also lead to a whole lot of "cover my butt" when it came to why past decisions were made or communicating to higher ups with transparency.

HCSS - A Great Place to Work

Pros

Benefits truly designed to help employees grow. People in leadership who truly care about employee growth and career advancement. If you put work in, it is rewarded. At the same time, however, care is even shown toward the families of employees such that an employee is encouraged not to overwork and neglect time with their family. Company values and vision into which I am happily able to buy in.

Cons

I cannot think of anything I would consider a con.

Pros

You are given opportunities for growth. Your supervisors go to bat for you. A typical day can consist of a relaxed workload that affords you the opportunity to get a quick workout in at the gym, a lap or two around the walking trail and a pick-up game of basketball around lunchtime—all while working and interacting with great, helpful, energetic people. I am also making 30% more than what I was making 13 months ago with a different company—and that is even without factoring in the profit sharing.

Cons

The only comment I have is that some initiatives are not planned well. There is a tendency (on rare occasion with regards to my work) to put a deadline on something and move too quickly through the planning phase where you might have to back up and redo work. Again, this is on rare occasion with my position. More often than not, if a mistake is made everyone learns from it. Luckily we're past the election now, but as an ESOP where we are told to think as if we are the owners—I know that many of us would not have elected to use company money to donate to Republican campaigns.
