Pros

The pay is good. However, I was hired by a different company that was acquired by HII.

Cons

There is a constant shuffle of upper and middle management. You will be working for one person for a few months before you are handed off to another person. Many times it makes no sense to you or your management why you are working together. Middle management is so afraid of being fired that stupid decision making in upper management goes unchallenged. Then those poor decisions end up falling on lower level employees to resolve. Communication is extremely poor. Decision making is made without input from the people who will end up doing the work. This is the worst environment for software development I have ever encountered in 20 years as a software engineer.

Pros

Two weeks off at the end of year

Cons

I was in one of the ERGs (Employee Resource Group) that tried to promote awareness and understanding of different cultures and backgrounds. After getting initial approval, we had an event that included religious background. Flyers were put up. An employee complained and the company forced us to cancel the event. The event was voluntary and was only to provide cultural context and not to promote a religion. From that point on I no longer wanted to work for the company. I was volunteering my free time to do all this, trying to promote diversity and inclusion because I thought the company cared but they did not. I was told we no longer discussed religion at these events. How can you promote diversity and inclusion without discussing religion? On top of this hypocrisy, every Christmas they would decorate the street entrance with the nativity scene for all to see. Tell me how this is not religious? Anyway I no longer work at this company and I’m glad to be gone. Have fun pretending to care diversity and inclusion.
